Nintendo released its Q3 FY2024 financial results, revealing that the Nintendo Switch has sold 150.86 million units worldwide as of Dec 31, 2024. The company’s report also updated sales figures for first-party titles (with Super Mario Party Jamboree reaching 6.17 million units, etc.).
Nintendo Direct (Switch 2) announced: Nintendo confirmed a special Direct presentation dedicated to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The broadcast is set for April 2, 2025 at 6 a.m. PT (9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST) and will offer a “closer look” at the new console.
Switch 1 2025 lineup reaffirmed: In an investor Q&A following the financial briefing, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa reiterated that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – both slated for 2025 – are still planned for release on the current Nintendo Switch (despite the upcoming Switch 2). Furukawa noted the company will continue supporting the huge Switch user base while also preparing dedicated software for the new hardware.
Wario Land 4 (Game Boy Advance) and Ridge Racer 64 (Nintendo 64) were added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack classic games library. These titles became available for Expansion Pack subscribers in mid-February.
Suikoden I&II HD Remaster dated: Konami announced a “Suikoden Special Program” livestream for March 3, 2025 to share “all the latest news on Suikoden.” In the announcement, Konami confirmed that Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will launch on Nintendo Switch (as well as PS4/PS5, Xbox, PC) on March 6, 2025.
Nintendo Switch Online removal (first-ever): Nintendo revealed that the SNES game Super Soccer will be removed from the Switch Online service on March 28, 2025 – the first time a title is being pulled from the NSO classic games library.
Pokémon Day Presents 2025: The Pokémon Company aired a “Pokémon Presents” broadcast to celebrate Pokémon Day. The presentation showcased new footage of Pokémon Legends: Z-A – giving fans a first detailed look at its real-time combat system (drawing comparisons to Xenoblade Chronicles in style) and delivered updates on other Pokémon titles and services.
Developer/publisher Milestone officially announced MotoGP 25 for all major platforms, including Nintendo Switch. The latest entry in the motorcycle racing series is scheduled to release on April 30, 2025 on Switch, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Nintendo shared the first story synopsis for the new epilogue chapter in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition (the remaster of the Wii U game launching March 2025 on Switch). According to an update on the official Japanese site, the epilogue story continues right after the original ending, featuring a mysterious “disappearance phenomenon” on planet Mira and new threats that the BLADE team must confront.
Publisher Rogue Games and developer Subcult Joint revealed Cookie Cutter: Overkill Edition, an enhanced version of the 2D “techno-pop-punk” Metroidvania Cookie Cutter, for Nintendo Switch. This upgraded edition (with new content, fully voiced dialogue, added moves, tweaks, etc.) is slated to launch in Spring 2025 on Switch
Coatsink and GrizzlyGames announced ISLANDERS: New Shores, a sequel to the minimalist city-building strategy game ISLANDERS. The new title will launch in Summer 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, promising the same relaxing island-building gameplay with fresh mechanics, modes, and features.
